Finally, the weekend is here! My plan of attack is to get caught up on Castle, bake cookies for Kira's party tomorrow night, homework, laundry, and sleep! I can't believe Midterms are next week...

Day 7 of this meme already? )
jupiterhalo: ([Resident Evil] Chris' attempt at logic)
It's been almost two months since my last post! How time flies...

Nothing much has been going on. Work and school have taken over my life, which is fine. I like being busy, and I'm doing really well at CSU so far. I have A's in all of my classes so far, so hopefully that continues!

I'm feeling a lot better, now that I've had my freak out. Wednesday night I treated myself to a movie, but then broke down when I got home and cried out some of the frustration and sadness I've been feeling over the past year. I feel more like myself now, and I've decided that I'm not going to use what has happened to me regarding my parents as a crutch anymore.

I think I'm going to try and take up a few more hobbies, if I have time. I told Michi that I want to start taking singing lessons again, which is true. I also want to look into doing some horseback riding again, or maybe I'll find something completely new! I want to start yoga and meditation again, as well. I don't know where I'm going to find the time to do this, but I will find a way! Maybe I will be able to make some new friends along the way.

I think I'm going to take up my entry title as one of my two personal mantras. I'm tired of being unhappy with myself, and I will start to remember that I can choose how I feel each day.

Anyway, Shannon found this 30 day meme relating to Resident Evil that she wants me to post. Hopefully it will encourage me to post more often, since I have been really bad about that during the past few years.

30 day meme! )

Wow. Hi there, LJ. Been a while. Over 2 1/2 months since I last posted anything on here.

A lot of stuff has happened since October 12th. I finished up all of the classes I need to get my AA, though I'm technically graduating in the spring. My birthday came and went in November, which was fun. Thanksgiving was also a nice time. December 3rd happened, along with December 8th. [livejournal.com profile] hyper_amychao's birthday, the Solstice Party, and Christmas also happened.

My birthday was a lot of fun this year. A bunch of my friends ended up going to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, then Pappadeaux for dinner. There ended up being about 12 of us altogether, so it was quite a big group. My sister's birthday was also on October 30th, so I ended up going to the party she had. I met her boyfriend for the first time, and a bunch of her friends from school.

[livejournal.com profile] hyper_amychao had her birthday on December 5th, which ended up being a lot more relaxed than mine. A few of us went to Old C's and had dinner, just chilling for the majority of it.

Christmas was nice this year. My dad, sister and I ended up going out to Brush Christmas Day, which was the first time I'd been back there since my grandmother passed away four or five years ago. The Solstice party was also a good time; we ended up watching really bad movies and having large amounts of Puppy Chow. <3

Nothing really notable in my acquisitions this year, but I did get a lot of books and movies. I also got some snow boots from my dad, which will come in handy when we do actually get snow here.

Okay, must get ready for work.
jupiterhalo: ([Harry Potter] Snape)
I think my icon perfectly sums up my mood at the moment.

The Friends of the Library had their annual book sale this weekend. Today, from 4 to 6 p.m., they had the $5.00 bag sale. I dragged [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] there, since we were already hanging out. xD I got a ton of books, including a cookbook and some ~romance~ novels. Overall, I was quite pleased.

[Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I were there for more than one reason, however. We've decided to... read Twilight. I, for one, am curious to see what the big deal is about, and if they do actually suck as much as people say they do.

The book sale didn't have any copies, so we got two copies of the first book from the library. We've already made it through the first two chapters, and right now I want to punch Bella in the face. She reminds me so much of a Mary Sue: all of the boys love her, everyone wants to talk to her and be her friend, and she's way too stuck up about how smart she is. She is also too whiny, and the dialogue in these first two chapters is so bad. Hopefully we can make it through the first book. xD

Work has been busy; school has been "meh." I need to start thinking about applying to CSU, even though there are so many things I need to do at Front Range first.

On the dating front- I've gone out on at least four (I think) coffee dates since I started doing the LoveBug thing. That's four more dates than I've had in the past year and a half. Too bad I haven't liked any of the guys I've been matched with. No chemistry whatsoever, and some of them have been jerks. Hopefully someone will come along that I'll actually feel something with.

On the plus side, I've lost a little over 18 pounds since the beginning of September.
jupiterhalo: ([Misc] Ten million dollars)
Whoo! This last few days have been really busy. Work has been kicking into high gear, and school's already moving at a fast pace. I spent three hours doing my homework last night, no joke. Science isn't my strong suit, but I'm going to try the best that I can and call it good. :D

I had my yearly review yesterday, which went awesome. These things seem to get easier and easier every year. I also got a raise, which makes me incredibly happy. More money is always a good thing.

Now, to the thing I need advice about!

So, I have a first date coming up. More than likely, at least two of them. Since I haven't really gotten out and dated in about two years, I am definitely nervous about the whole thing. I want things to go over well, and that includes picking the right outfit.

I was hoping that I could poll the people on my f-list and ask everyone what they think is appropriate "first date" attire. I'm meeting this first guy for coffee, so I'm assuming that it'll be nothing more than casual. I was thinking jeans and a shirt with a cardigan or something over it, but I don't know. Is that too fancy? I would really appreciate any advice! <3

Today has been quite a good day, despite my sunburn getting to that really disgusting phase before blistering. xD

I had my six month cleaning/check-up at the dentist first thing this morning. Normally at these things I have to schedule at least two or three cavities to be filled, and have the hygienist yell at me for not flossing. But this time is probably the first time ever that I haven't had any cavities at all! I just have to floss, which I'm already aware of. That made me pretty happy.

My class was okay last night. It was also very boring, so I'm hoping that once we get into the actual weather stuff (instead of talking about things like density and pressure) it will be more interesting. I'm going to need to bring a snack or something to that class in order to stay awake. My teacher is also quite awkward, so we'll see how things pan out.

Nothing much has been going on, other than that. Just work, reading, catching up on Friends with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and stuff like that.
jupiterhalo: ([Misc] Worst date ever)
Yesterday was a busy day for me! I'm not really used to that. I went on a bike ride with my dad in the morning, and found a cookbook and a new spare comforter. Then I went down to LotP in the afternoon and got made up like a zombie, in order to walk around NewWest Fest and promote the zombie crawl that's happening on October 23rd. That was both fun and exhausting, even though I got a bad sunburn on my shoulders and back. xD A bunch of people thought I was actually injured, and one guy thought I had AIDS. In the evening, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] went shopping for new clothes and then went to Old C's with her dad.

Last night I had the worst trouble sleeping. I'd wake up every two to three hours on account of my sunburn hurting like a mofo. At about 4 I decided to just get up and go to the store since I needed things. I feel bad, since I woke Joe up when I was putting my stuff away in the freezer. xD But he doesn't work today, so it's not as bad as it could be.

School starts tomorrow, which will be nice. That way I can get it over with, instead of dreading it. Other than that, nothing has really been going on.

Wow, it's been a long time since I've updated. xD I'm thinking about getting a Facebook, simply because people seem to use that a lot more than LJ. And also so I can play games and waste my time that way. But we'll see if I do end up getting one or not.

Ummm, let's see! The 28th was the Lady Gaga concert at the Pepsi Center, which was in a word: awesome. I had a good time, my friends seemed like they had a good time, and it was great to just dance to some good pop music.

I started a diet on the 26th; I think it's going pretty well! It's one of those diets that make you eat five or six times a day, which is something I'm still struggling with. Normally I eat two meals a day. So I've pretty much cut out all of the snacks they tell you to eat, since I feel full pretty much all of the time. I've also forgotten to eat breakfast most of the days since I started, but hopefully I'll start to get into the habit of doing that. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] has been awesome in helping me with the diet; she's been cooking dinner for me and helping me keep on track. [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] also hooked up the Wii Fit for me, so I'm going to try and get up early to use that for at least half an hour every morning.

Work has been one pain in the ass after another. There's so much drama going on at the office right now; it's been a challenge to muster up the energy to even face it every day. One of my coworkers is an idiot, but when everyone complains about her to our boss, we're suddenly "picking on her" and "ganging up on her." In my opinion, if a lot of people complain about this particular woman, shouldn't that show that something is obviously wrong with the way she works? My boss is sacrificing the office morale for the sake of one person, and it's pissing me off. I've decided I'm done with all of that stuff-- I'm going to go in, do my work, and go home; hopefully I'll be able to skirt a lot of the stuff that's going on.

Sheena is also having a party on the 7th, and I honestly don't want to go now after everything that's happened in the last week. But, I already agreed to go, and I'm hoping it won't be as bad as I think. We'll see how I feel on Saturday, though.

My sister is home from CU for about a week or so; we're going to go have lunch tomorrow. Hopefully things will be better between us now than they were on my birthday. xD We did manage to have a civilized conversation on Sunday, when I went over to my parent's home for breakfast before my dad and I took a bike ride.

School starts on the 23rd, which will be nice. I won't feel so lazy every day when I get home from work, as long as I have a class to look forward to. I'm only taking Meteorology and then I'll finally be done at Front Range, so I'm hoping that I'll do well.

Other than that, not much has been going on. Just replaying some old video games and getting through a few books in my stack.

Whooo, got my final grade for my class. I was hoping for an A, but expected a B. And that's what I got. :D Still pretty damn good, though.

I'm so happy that school is over for the semester.

Time for bed, now that I finally have my grade and have played a bit of Darkside Chronicles.
jupiterhalo: ([Clownana] Glare)
Goodbye April and hello May. Thank god for that. April just sucked as a month, so I'm hoping May will be better. I don't think that staying up for almost 24 hours on Thursday really helped, either.

Since I just spent the last few hours going through my iTunes and updating it, here's a meme all about music. xD

Search these words in your iTunes and write down the first song of the list that comes up.

Happy: "So Happy I Could Die" by Lady Gaga.
Love: "I Want to Know What Love Is" by the Rock of Ages Broadway Cast.
Hate: "I Hate Myself For Loving You/Heat of the Moment" by the Rock of Ages Broadway Cast.
Light: "Moonlight Shadow" by DJ Mystik.
Dark: "Fearless (250 and Dark Stars)" by Falling Up.
Good: "Damn You Look Good and I'm Drunk" by Cobra Starship.
Bad: "Bad Company" by Bad Company.
Hello: "Hello" by Evanescence.
Bye: "Goodbye My Lover" by James Blunt.
Up: "Waking Up" By Julien-K.
Down: "The Final Countdown" by the Rock of Ages Broadway Cast.

I have a ton of music in my library; these songs are the first ones that showed up that I actually have checked.

I ended up riding my bike a lot this weekend! Eight miles yesterday, and another 12 today. I'm quite proud of myself for getting back into the groove of things and taking advantage of the nice weather we've been having.

I went to LotP today, after [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I finished cleaning the office and played a bit of The Bouncer, and ordered some new shoes to wear to work. I'm very excited to get them, as they're fricking adorable.

I went to look at cars yesterday with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], since I need a new one desperately. xD We ended up spending about three hours at one dealership, because the guy helping us was totally smarmy and couldn't understand the words "I'm just looking, thanks."

I don't really think there's anything else pressing going on right now. Just work and school, pretty much. Although, I'll be really happy once the semester is over. Work can stop being a bitch any time, now.
jupiterhalo: ([Resident Evil] Cute Jill)
Not a lot has been going on lately! Just school and work, for the most part. xD Oh, and trying to get ready for Wasabi, which is next week. Craaaazy. It'll be nice to get away from Fort Collins for a while, even though I'm not too excited about the convention itself. Since I never do anything related to the con anyway, it's just a chance for me to do what I feel like. I am looking forward to seeing the band play, though. That'll probably be the highlight of the weekend.

I'm trying not to sweat the small stuff. I think I've been letting too many small things bother me lately, and it's had an impact on my health, especially my sleep. I read something yesterday and it made me ridiculously happy. xD Kind of sad that the little things can do that, but... well, I think that I just need to take those feelings when I get them, since I don't get them too often.

Oh, yeah. I think it's sad that in order to get up at 6:45, I need to wake up at 5:00. Which is what I did this morning. Sob.

So, on to the fandom notes! xD

The CW has chosen to renew Supernatural for another season, which will be the last one. Of course, I'm happy that we fans get another season, as I'm not ready to part with the show yet. But, really... where can you go after this season ends? Especially if the writers aren't going to stretch the apocalypse out into season six? I've heard that they want to go back to the feel and style of season one. But, I personally think that would be kind of a letdown after the epic!storylines we've had for the last few seasons. Oh well. I'll watch the beginning of season six and decide from there.

Resident Evil. Oh man, I spend way too much money for this game franchise. xD First, I needed to buy a wireless adapter for my 360, since I couldn't connect the Ethernet cable to the modem/router. That cost $100.00 alone. Then I had to buy a gold membership for my 360 account, and 1000 points to download the new content that was released. So, that's another $21.00 right there. But it was so worth it. To me, the story of Resident Evil is the story of Chris and Jill, so I was happy to play as them again. More new content should be coming out soon, which will be awesome. And "Lost in Nightmares" had the Itchy Tasty file! xD A truncated version, yes, but... still. So awesome.

I think that's everything. Time to go take a shower and get ready for work.
jupiterhalo: ([Clownana] Glare)
I stayed up way too late last night working on my assignment for my class. At least it's done, and I have a 3-day weekend this weekend due to my taking tomorrow off. Hopefully I can get a lot done!

On a nice note, I was able to talk to my old friend Chris last night on MSN. <3 He and I haven't talked in years, since we're both so busy now. Hopefully we can start e-mailing again and all that.

Bleh. I wish I had time to eat before going to class, but I really don't. Oh well.
jupiterhalo: ([Supernatural] Four score and...)
Been a pretty busy couple of weeks! :D

School is in full swing by now. I need to go to the Vidiot sometime soon and pick out a few movies to watch for my class. One of the assignments my teacher gave us is to watch a movie set in the Middle Ages and do a "History or Hollywood" type assignment with it. I think I've also picked out a person to do my first biography on, which is due in less than two weeks. I've also found that eating something before class will help me not fall asleep. xD

Let's see... I started my second job cleaning on Friday. It's not very hard; there's just a lot to do and it's very tedious. However, it's an extra $175 a month that will go right into my savings. :D And I only have to do it once every two weeks. It should get easier as time goes on.

I hung out with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] on Friday. That was really fun, as I needed to unwind after two and half hours of straight cleaning. We got dinner and watched Zombieland. I liked it a lot, and I'm happy that they're going to make a sequel to it. Then, on Saturday, I went to see a movie with [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]. We saw When in Rome, which was very cute. And funny, too, without being really stupid. That unfortunately overlapped with Shaun's birthday party, but I don't think he's too upset about me not being there.

I've also finally beaten Resident Evil 5, which is kind of sad that it took me this long to beat it. Having my own 360 helped a lot with that, though. I'm in the process of replaying it, and can hopefully unlock a better alternate costume for Chris than his stupid Safari zebra outfit.

I headed to the library and a few stores today. Got a lot of books at the library, including the rest of the Tales of the Otori series and a few books on World War II, in addition to the books I got for my biography project. I also found a Jensen Ackles movie for $3.00 while I was out shopping. It sounds really lame, but... for three bucks, I couldn't resist.

Hmmm... yeah, I thought I had more to say, but I think that's it.
jupiterhalo: ([Misc] Teddy)
I return! Sort of. xD [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] was nice enough to lend me her laptop, since mine is still broken. But it's nice to have high speed internet again; my dad is really enjoying it as well. He's totally been geeking out over the Jeopardy website all day.

I'll probably do a proper update later, but here's a bullet list of what's been going on:

-School started on the 19th. Awesome class with a great teacher. Hopefully this semester will be as good as the last.

-Just did my taxes. :D I figured I should do those, in case I owed a lot of money. However, I'm getting $678 back from the federal government, and $64 back from the state. Wheee. That'll be nice.

Oh, yeah! Lookee what I have here, [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]~: http://community.livejournal.com/dear_mun/17096038.html

And before I go do something else, a meme!

A. List seven habits/quirks/facts about yourself.
B. Tag seven people to do the same.
C. Do not tag the person who tagged you or say that you tag "whoever wants to do it".

1. Most of the time, I can’t go to sleep without reading at least a few pages from a book first. I guess that’s kind of odd, seeing as how I’m one of the few people that I’m aware of that have to do that. It’s a habit I developed when I was in elementary school and it has still stuck.

2. I’m a night owl. If I could stay up all night and sleep all day, I would do it in a heartbeat. Sadly, my job (which I love and am so grateful for) won’t let me do that.

3. I used to hoard all of my books fanatically. I find a lot of comfort in the pages of the books I read. Most of the time the characters end up becoming dear friends to me. So, it was hard for me to give away books (as it was like giving up friends or family). It’s only in the past few months, with the move from my apartment back to my parent’s place that’s made me realize how bulky and heavy boxes of books are. So, I’ve trimmed down my collection and have been able to start giving away and donating books I no longer read.

4. I don’t know if this is a quirk or not, but I rarely get more than 5 or 6 hours of sleep a night. I’ve been trying to get up at around 6 a.m., but that hasn’t really happened since I end up going to bed at either midnight or 1 a.m. Did I mention that I’m not a morning person?

5. The longest (truly) romantic relationship I’ve had lasted for about six months… when I was 14 years old. I’m definitely not the easiest person to get along with, and this fact makes me realize how difficult a person I am.

6. The character I’ve most loved roleplaying as is Nagase Arashi, from Paradise Kiss.

7. As a result from my trip to the dentist today to get a filling, I think that my mouth is made up more of teeth with fillings/crowns/some sort of addition than natural teeth.

I tag: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], and [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com].

Later days, peeps!
jupiterhalo: ([RvB] Perfectly sane)
I definitely don't feel like I should be up this early on a Saturday. xD Well, it's not THAT early... but early for me. I use my weekends to sleep in, damn it!

However, I have too much to do today, and I don't know how I'll find the time to do all of it. On the agenda today, is :

-Packing
-Looking at a possible storage unit
-Taking Doodles to the vet
-Finishing up shopping (for the most part)
-Going to the Duke and watching Bob and his stupid band
-Maybe a trip to Goodwill to drop off all of the clothes and stuff we're getting rid of

Anyway, I saw The Princess and the Frog last night. Omfg it was so cute. xD I hate everything that Disney's done in the last few years, but I love their fairy tale movies. I think this and Enchanted have been the only two movies I've enjoyed in a long time. I think I'm in the minority, but I hate Pixar. :| As a result, I try to avoid all of their movies if I can. But yeah, I enjoyed it a lot last night. The theater was completely empty except for a few other girls and me. It sounds like [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I are going to see it sometime next week, as well.

I also checked to see if my grades for the semester had been posted yet. They were. All A's, baby! Well, except for the science class I withdrew from. xD I haven't had a 4.0 in forever. I'm still pretty psyched about that.

Ugh. Okay. Time to get dressed and start moving some of these boxes over to my parent's place, before I go meet that lady to look at the storage unit.

EDIT:

Oh yeah! Here's my letter to Santa, before I forget.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In May I signed my organ donor card (28 points). Last Thursday I donated bone marrow to [livejournal.com profile] sorcererhuntres in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Wednesday I helped [livejournal.com profile] kazeoto across the street (6 points). Last Sunday I punched [livejournal.com profile] jamochalicious in the arm (-10 points). In September I gave [livejournal.com profile] ras_algethi a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points).

Overall, I've been nice (374 points). For Christmas I deserve an XBox 360!

Sincerely,
jupiterhalo

Write your letter to Santa! Enter your LJ username:

Man. I want a 360 for Christmas. xD
jupiterhalo: ([Sonic] You're nice)
Last day of classes. :D I'm so happy it's finally over.

A month-long break is definitely in order.
jupiterhalo: ([Bleach] Kensei toothbrush)
That class is over and done with as of tonight! :D It was quite an interesting class, overall. But the almost 3 hour period was brutal at times.

So, that down, and Art History to go. That, however, should be done with tomorrow.

According to weather.com, it's 2 degrees out but it feels like -13. I can believe it. :|
jupiterhalo: ([Paradise Kiss] Whee!Miwako)
And of course, by my title, I am talking about school. My Art History class wrapped up the lecture portion before the break started, so for the next few days we're watching a documentary called The Rape of Europa. This documentary is about Nazi Germany and how Hitler (who was an artist himself) planned his army invasions around countries that had art he wanted to steal and add to his own collection. I think it's fascinating so far, so I'm looking forward to finishing that up on Thursday. Next Tuesday is review day for our test, and on Thursday is the test itself. After that, I think I'm done with that class!

I've actually really enjoyed this class; much more than I had expected to, anyway. It was nice not having to simply memorize artist names and paintings. We got to talk about the culture and politics and stuff that related to the pieces we were studying. Too bad Art History II isn't like this class.

Well, before we went on break, my paper for Art History was due. Being the procrastinator I am, I wrote it a few hours before the class and just BS-ed my way through it. xD We got our grades back today, and I ended up receiving a 95/100 on the paper. Either I'm a better writer/bullshitter than I thought, or my teacher was just going easy on us. Now I just have to do my paper for Comparative Religions, which is due tomorrow. 8D;

The break itself was nice. It felt good to have a three day work week without me having to leave early and go to school. Thanksgiving was kind of meh... my family's never been good at dinners like that, especially with my sister's "holier than thou" attitude. I think everything would have been much better if she had chosen not to come, but... oh well. It is what it is. xD

It's kind of crazy to think it's December already. Which means... time to move. As much as I hate to move, I'll be glad to get out of this smelly apartment. According to [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com], the people at Drake Manor did a showing of our apartment this morning without letting either one of us know about it first. She was actually still sleeping, and woke up when the woman doing the showing opened up her door to show off her room. :| While I'm pissed that they didn't even let us know they were doing that, according to our lease they don't need our permission. They can try to contact us, but if that doesn't work... Well. Obviously it's not going to stop them.

I already took one bookcase full of books back over to my parent's house, but I have the rest of my room and the apartment to pack up. Hopefully it won't be too long.

Before I go, if anyone wants a holiday card from me, let me know in the comments! :D I'll get your address from you later.

Alright, time to go work on my paper.
jupiterhalo: ([Resident Evil] Chibi Leon)
I haven't really updated in a long time. D: So, in case anyone's interested... here you go!

My birthday's come and gone, and it was mostly fun. I had a dinner with my friends on the 6th, since I was going to be in Boulder on my actual birthday. Everyone seemed to have a good time. :D Gerardo, Nic, Shannon, Kira, Jackie and myself ended up staying until Old C's closed because we were having fun talking to each other.

I went to see Regina Spektor with my sister on my birthday, and that was mostly fun. We did get into a fight early on in the night, however, and that made everything after that kind of awkward. It was over the stupidest thing, too, but... oh well.

School-wise. I ended up dropping Astronomy, since I couldn't learn anything from my online class. Which means I'm not graduating this semester. Instead, I'm going to take Meteorology and graduate in the spring (hopefully). Now we're on Thanksgiving break, which will be incredibly welcome.

I got Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles on Wednesday, but couldn't start playing it until Thursday night. I'm really happy that they were able to get back a lot of the actors to play their characters again, especially Leon's and Claire's. I mean, Alyson is the only one to have played Claire in English, so it would have been awkward to hear anyone else. I beat it last night, so now I'm going through and trying to find all of the files I missed the first time around.

Supernatural is going to kill me. :| No new episodes until January 21st? Augh! This last one ended so memorably, too. I don't know what I'm going to do if the CW does end up renewing it for a sixth season. Where can they possibly go from what's been going on in season five?

Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." I can't stop listening to it. :|

Okay, I think that's everything. And have a meme, courtesy of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]! :D
